It was the perfect way to wrap up Senior Day on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the Stadium of Champions. The Christian County Lady Colonels used a balanced attack and a strong second half effort to defeat Apollo 5-2 in their final home game of the regular season.

The win was the 8th of the season for the Lady Colonels. The last time they had more than 8 wins in a season was back in 2011, when they went 12-9-1.

After fallling behind Apollo 1-0 early in the match, the Lady Colonels got two goals in a two minute span to take the lead. At 15:00, Autumn Bell took the ball down the left hand side on a breakaway to tie the game at 1-1. Two minutes later, Briana Rubio beat an out of position goalie, to put Christian County up 2-1.

Apollo found the net again at the 28:00 mark to even the match up at 2-2, which is where the two teams would stand at the break.

Not much changed until the midway point of the second half. At 62:00, Megan Lacy found the net to put the Lady Colonels back in front to stay at 3-2. Just three minutes later, after a hand ball was called inside the box, Drew Hancock made the penalty kick to extend the lead to 4-2. Emma Fleming then sealed the win with a goal at 77:00 to make it 5-2.

Christian County ups their record to 8-7-1, and will return to action on the road Monday at Union County.
