Lady Falcons Celebrate Senior Night With Win Over Trigg

Fort Campbell is playing their best volleyball of the season at the right time. The Lady Falcons have won four of their last seven matches, capped with a 3-1 win (26-24, 27-29, 25-14, 25-17) over Trigg County on their senior night Thursday on post.

Fort Campbell was strong at the net all night, led by sophomore’s Jasmin Jones’ 11 kills and five aces. Diamond Jenkins added seven kills, and Emma Syester had four.

Trigg County led 11-6 in the first set and seemed to have things in control up 21-16. However, Fort Campbell scored six of the next seven points to tie the set at 22. It was tied at 23 and 24 before the Lady Falcons scored the final two points for the 26-24 win.

No team had a lead larger than four points in the second set as Trigg led 18-14. Fort Campbell battled back to tie the set at 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27. Trigg scored the final two points for the 29-27 win.

In the third set, things were tied at six before Fort Campbell went on an 8-0 run to grab a 14-6 lead and control of the set. Trigg never got closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Fort Campbell never trailed in the fourth set as three Trigg service errors kept them from mounting a challenge.  Faith Kaauamo was strong in the third and fourth sets with nine aces on the night.

Lexie Wright had 12 kills and eight aces for Trigg County. Chloe Williamson added three aces, but the Lady Wildcats had 11 service errors in the match.

Fort Campbell (8-22) will host the Eighth District Tournament next week and will play University Heights Tuesday at 5:30.

Trigg County (7-19) will play in the Western Kentucky Smackdown this weekend before hosting the Fifth District Tournament Monday.
