Caldwell Falls to Madisonville in Girls 7th District Soccer Finale

The Caldwell County Lady Tigers two year reign at the top of the 7th District came to an end Tuesday evening. Madisonville scored two goals in the first ten minutes of the the 7th District championship game and then rolled on to an 8-1 win on their home field. The two teams have played in the 7th District championship game every year since the current playoff structure began back in 2012.

The Lady Maroons got on the board quick Tuesday evening, getting a goal from Keely Ashby just four minutes into the match to go up 1-0. Five minutes later it was Abigail Center finding the net to extend the Madisonville lead to 2-0.

The two teams played back and forth until the 37:00, when Caldwell County found some momentum as Kaylee McEnaney made her way through two defenders and got a shot over the goalie to cut the lead to 2-1.

Any possibilities of a rally were quickly put down by the Lady Maroons. Madisonville got goals from Kensley Zieba and Abigail Center over the final two minutes of the half, to extend the lead back out to 4-1 at the break.

The second half was all Madisonville, as the Lady Maroons scored four more goals over the final forty minutes. The goals came from Keely Ashby, Raelynn Blanford, and Camryn LaGrange (2).

Caldwell County falls to 10-12 on the season, while Madisonville improves to 15-2. Both teams will advance to next week’s region tournament.
