Caldwell Air Attack Clips Falcons Wings

For a brief moment Friday night, just a brief moment, it looked like Fort Campbell and Caldwell County might go toe-to-toe. It was a very brief moment, as Caldwell County roared to a 48-7 win to complete an unbeaten run through district play.

Caldwell County took the opening drive quickly down the field and scored just 1:04 into the game to go up 6-0 when Joby Jaggers connected with Jameer Riley from 25 yards out. The Falcons responded on the very first play of the next possession, as Matt Middleton hit Nathan Lake on a slant across the middle that went for 80 yards. After the extra point, the Falcons led 7-6.

Caldwell County moved right down the field again on their second possession. The Tigers found the end zone when Jaggers hit Trel Riley on a 3 yard touchdown pass and went up 13-7.

Fort Campbell looked like they were going to respond once again. This time in the form of a long drive. The Falcons took up more than 6:00 and moved deep into Caldwell County territory. However, Jhony Paniagua-Solis missed a 30 yard field goal and the Falcons came up empty.

The second quarter completely belonged to the Caldwell County Tigers. The Tigers scored 28 points in the quarter, to finish the half with 35 unanswered point.s. Jameer Riley had a two yard run. Travion Samuel added a six yard run. Joby Jaggers hit for his third and fourth touchdowns of the night. Jaggers found Oliver Parker for a 19 yard touchdown pass, and then on the final play of the half, Jaggers connected with Travis Newsom on a 97 yard touchdown pass to make it 41-7 at the half. The pass was a record long touchdown pass for the Tiger offense.

After the Falcons punted on their opening possession of the 2nd half, Caldwell County moved quickly down the field, and capped off the drive with a 25 yard touchdown run from Travion Samuel to make it 48-7 and start the running clock for the remainder of the game.

The two teams combined for 773 yards of total offense. Caldwell County had 83 rushing and 389 passing. Fort Campbell had 108 rushing and 193 passing.

DeEric Hollowell had 4 carries for 40 yards for Caldwell County. Nathaniel Massey led Fort Campbell with 11 carries for 79 yards.

Travis Newsom was Caldwell County’s leading receiver with with five catches for 179 yards and a touchdown. Nathan Lake had a big night for Fort Campbell with four catches for 120 yards and a touchdown.

In the battle of the quarterbacks, Caldwell’s Joby Jaggers was 16-24-0 for 389 yards and four touchdowns. Fort Campbell’s Matt Middleton was 10-21-1 for 188 yards and a touchdown.

With the win, Caldwell County completes another perfect run through district play. The loss officially eliminates Fort Campbell from playoff contention.
