You could forgive members of the Lyon County Lady Lyons soccer team if they wake up in a cold sweat from a dream that Caldwell County’s Kaylee McEnaney just scored again. The Caldwell County sophomore scored three goals in the first seven minutes, five goals in the first half, and six for the night, as the Lady Tigers cruised to the regional semifinals with an 11-1 win over the Lady Lyons Monday night at the Stadium of Champions.

The Lady Lyons, who had won ten in a row coming into the opening round of the 2nd Region tournament, never even had a chance to get their bearings on a wet, blustery night on the pitch. McEnaney scored at the 2:00, 3:00, and 7:00 marks to put Caldwell County up 3-0 before Lyon County could realize what was going on. It would be a haymaker that the Lady Lyons could not recover from for the rest of the match.

Becca Siebert added a goal for Caldwell County at 11:00 to push the lead to 4-0. Laney Fletcher got her first goal of the night at 14:00 to make it 5-0.

Lyon County momentarily stopped the onslaught when Sydney Hoffman scored off a corner kick at 15:00 to trim the lead to 5-1. But, it was only a brief pause in the attack from the Lady Tigers.

Kaylee McEnaney scored at 32:00 and 37:00 to shut down any hopes of a first half rally for the Lady Lyons and make it a 7-1 lead for Caldwell County. Laney Fletcher scored her second goal of the night at 38:00 to give the Lady Tigers an 8-1 lead.

Caldwell County lost none of its execution in the cold air at halftime, as the Lady Tigers picked up in the second half right where they had left off at the end of the first half. Fletcher scored six minutes into the second half to put the Lady Tigers up 9-1. Just a minute later, Kaylee McEnaney scored for the 6th time to expand the lead to 10-1. Sofie Littlefield then ended the match with a goal at 55:00.

The win improves Caldwell County to 11-12 on the season, and moves the Lady Tigers into a semifinal matchup with UHA. Lyon County finishes their season at 12-4.
