Heritage Christian Claims Third Place at Tipoff Classic

Heritage Christian Academy went 3-0 Saturday to claim third place in the KCAA Tipoff Classic in Somerset. The Warriors’ only loss was to the team that won the tournament, Somerset Christian.

Gavin Fowler was named to the all-tournament team of the KCAA Tipoff Classic Saturday.

HCA opened with a 60-35 win over Bethel of McDaniels, Ky. The Warriors knocked down 12-of-16 shots from behind the arc in the win, while the defense held the Flames without a field goal in the second quarter as they built a 33-10 lead at halftime.

Dakota Brake had 11 points and four rebounds for the Warriors, while Gavin Fowler added nine points and five assists. Dalton Folz had five points and eight rebounds.

HCA followed the Bethel win with a close 56-52 win over Community Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg. The Warriors led after each quarter with the final score representing the closest margin of the second half.

Brake continued his strong play with 18 points and four rebounds. Josh Jones chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds, and Rajah Mills scored nine points.

HCA closed out the day with a 54-48 win over Lakeside Christian of Morehead in the third place game. Fowler led the Warriors with 16 points and four assists. Mills added 13 points and five boards. Brake had nine points, and Folz added nine rebounds.

Somerset Christian beat Oak Ridge Christian 76-59 to win the tournament. Both Somerset and Oak Ridge are in the same region as HCA. The Warriors (4-1) return to action Thursday in a girls/boys doubleheader at Clarksville Christian.
