Hoptown Swimmers Collect Top 5 Finishes at Rick Cohn Invitational

Hopkinsville kicked off their 2018-19 swim season by hosting their annual Rick Cohn Tiger Invitational Saturday at the swim complex named for the late Hopkinsville coach.

Point scorers for the Tigers included Koby Batts, who was part of the 200-yard free relay team that took first place in a time of 1:37.58. He also took third place in the 100-yard backstroke and eighth in the 100-yard fly. Batts was also part of the 200-yard medley relay that finished in fourth place.

Jadyn Hicks brought home four top-five finishes Saturday. He was third in the 200-yard freestyle and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle. Hicks teamed with Batts, Bryce Robinson, and Spencer Walker to win the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Robinson was also on the fourth place 200-yard medley relay team and finished third in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Walker racked up the most points of any Hopkinsville swimmer Saturday. He won two individual events in addition to being on the first place 200-yard free relay team. Walker won the 50-yard free in a time of 24.12 seconds and won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.61 seconds.

Chase Atkins was sixth in the 200-yard freestyle and seventh in the 500-yard freestyle.  He was also part of the 400-yard free relay that finished in fifth place.

Bryce Hanson finished sixth in the 100-yard free and 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke. He was also on the fourth place 200-yard medley relay team and the fifth place 400-yard free relay team.

Ryker Glathar was a member of the 400-yard free relay team that finished fifth.

Bowling Green won the team title with 490 points. South Warren (357) was second, and Hopkinsville (271) was third.

For the ladies, Owensboro won the team title with 376 points. Bowling Green (346) was second, Greenwood (304) third, and Hopkinsville (301) was fourth.

Lauren Langhi was fourth in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 50-yard freestyle events. She was on the second place 200-yard free relay and the 200-yard medley relay team that finished third.

Ella Falco was second in the 200-yard IM and third in the 100-yard fly. She was also a part of the 200-yard medley relay that finished in third place and was on the 400-yard free relay that also finished in third place.

Madyson Merrick was third in the 100-yard backstroke and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. Her 200-yard free relay team finished second, and she was on the third place 200-yard medley relay team.

Ellie Colburn was seventh in the 50-yard free and ninth in the 100-yard free. She also was part of the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard free relay teams that both finished in third place for Hoptown.

Madyson Hallmark finished 10th in the 500-yard free and 16th in the 200-yard freestyle. She was on the 400-yard free relay team that finished in ninth place.

Lauren Montgomery took fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle and was ninth in the 50-yard freestyle. She was also on the second place 200-yard free relay team.

Riley Robinson finished fifth in the 200-yard IM and was seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke. She also swam on the second place 200-yard freer relay team and on the third place 400-yard free relay team.
