Another day, another win for the Kentucky Wildcats. On Wednesday, it was Kentucky’s 90-44 defeat of the Monmouth Hawks at Rupp Arena.

Freshman shooting guard Tyler Herro led the way with 16 points, eight rebounds and five steals in Wednesday night’s victory. Herro took just 10 shots and finished as a +42 for the game.

Keldon Johnson (15), Quade Green (14) and Reid Travis (13) added double figure scoring as well.

As a team, the Wildcats’ defense was better than it had been all season. Monmouth’s 44 points were the least Kentucky had allowed all season.

The Hawks shot just 28% from the floor and, more importantly, were held to just 13% from behind the arc. Pressure from UK’s guards also forced 16 Monmouth turnovers.

Paint dominance was once again a trend, as Kentucky out-rebounded the opposition by 15. They also out-scored the Hawks’ by 16 in the painted area.

Kentucky led for 38:53 of the 40 possible minutes, leading to their most efficient effort of the season.

After an inconsistent stretch of games during Thanksgiving week, posting their most impressive win of the season is sure to serve as a confidence booster for the Wildcats.

Head coach John Calipari and his team will re-take Rupp Arena’s hardwood on Saturday against the UNC Greensboro Spartans at 1 P.M. EDT.
