Lady Lyons Blitz Livingston Central for 5th District Win

The Lyon County defense was the story as the Lady Lyons picked up a win in their district opener Tuesday night. The Lady Lyons held the Livingston Central Lady Cardinals to just 30 points in rolling to a 54-30 win in Eddyville.

The Lady Lyon defense was roaring right out of the game. Lyon County limited Livingston Central to just two field goals in the first quarter, as the Lady Lyons jumped out to a 12-4 lead. Allison Murphy scored eight of the Lady Lyons points in the opening quarter.

Things did not get much better for the Lady Cardinals in the second quarter. Lyon County limited Livingston Central to only two field goals again in the 2nd quarter. Murphy was again the engine for the Lady Lyon offense, scoring nine more in the second quarter as Lyon County went to the locker room with a 27-10 lead.

Gracie Downie and Lauren Wring tried to get the Lady Cardinals jump started in the 3rd quarter. The pair combined for 13 points. However, Lyon County still lead 41-25 after the 3rd. The Lady Lyons got big minutes from Rose Smith and Calista Collins in the quarter.

The Lady Lyons then closed out the game, outscoring Livingston Central 13-5 in the final period to reach the 24 point margin.

Allison Murphy had a big night for the Lady Lyons with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Calista Collins finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Rose Smith also had nine points for the Lady Lyons.

Kerah Davidson and Gracie Downey led Livingston Central with 10 points each.

Lyon County improves to 2-1 overall, and 1-0 in the district. The Lady Lyons return to action Friday at Crittenden County.

Livingston Central drops to 0-5 overall, and 0-1 in the district.
