McCracken Buzzer-Beater Nips Hoptown at Mustang Madness

Abby Ellington drained a corner 3-pointer as time expired to give McCracken County a 65-62 win over Hopkinsville Saturday morning at Mustang Madness in Paducah.

The Lady Mustangs worked the clock down to the final seconds and found Ellington open in the left corner for the game-winner. The McCracken County junior ended up with 13 points in the contest.

Hoptown trailed throughout the game, down four at halftime (35-31) and down five after three quarters (51-46).

Donisha Flowers scored seven of her 19 points in the fourth quarter for Hopkinsville. Jayla Rose added 15 points, Yogi McKnight had 13 points, and Breon Oldham scored 12 points.

Hopkinsville was 14-of-25 at the free throw line, while McCracken County hit 23-of-27.

McCracken County (6-7) was led by Marlee Morehead’s 19 points. Tay Scott added 11 points.

The Lady Tigers (12-8) are back in action Tuesday when they host another First Region school, Graves County, at Tiger Gym. Hoptown is 1-4 against First Region teams this year, including a 53-48 loss to Graves County Dec. 27 at South Warren.
