Fort Campbell Uses Big First Half to Get By Panthers

The Fort Campbell Falcons got out to a big first half lead and then held on in the second half Tuesday night to snap a four game losing streak. The Falcons traveled to Dawson Springs and came away with the 73-67 win.

The Falcon offense was clicking early in the game Tuesday evening. Behind the outside shooting of Matthew Manalang, Fort Campbell jumped out to a 25-18 lead after the opening quarter. Manalang connected on three 3-pointers in the opening quarter to help get the Falcons off to the flying start. Nathan Lake also drained a three in the opening eight minutes.

After being held scoreless in the opening quarter, Cameron Pratt got going in the second quarter for the Falcons. Pratt had nine points in the quarter, including a 3-pointer, to help the Falcons to extend the lead to 46-35 at the half.

The Panthers used their defense to make an effort to get back into the game in the second half. Dawson Springs outscored the Falcons 16-11 in the 3rd quarter to trim the lead to 57-51 headed into the final quarter.

Using a balanced effort down the stretch, the Falcons were able to hold on and pick up the six point road win.

Cameron Johnson and Doryan Hall led the Falcons with 13 points each. Cameron Pratt also reached double figures with 12.

Dawson’s Skylar Clark led all scorers in the contest with 22 points. Landon Pace added 13, while Ethan Huddleston had 11 for the Panthers.

Fort Campbell improves to 5-6 with the win, while the Panthers drop to 5-10.
