Lady Lyons Back on Winning Track With Win at Fort Campbell

The Lyon County Lady Lyons tuned up for the 2nd Region All A Classic by ending a two game losing streak Saturday afternoon. The Lady Lyons went on the road picked up the 30-14 win over Fort Campbell. Lyon County was able to get numerous players involved in picking up the win.

Behind the play of Rose Smith and Lydia P’Poole, the Lady Lyons got off to a fast start in the contest. P’Poole and Smith each scored six points in the opening quarter. Meanwhile, the Lyon County defense limited Fort Campbell to just two points in the quarter, as the Lady Lyons roared out to a 16-2 lead.

The Lyon County defense continued to control the game in the 2nd quarter, as the Lady Lyons again limited the Lady Falcons to just two points. Lyon County’s offense slowed down somewhat, but the Lady Lyons were still able to extend the lead to 22-4 at the half.

Fort Campbell found some offensive life in the 3rd quarter, with that spark coming from Asia Cabili. Cabili scored eight points in the quarter, as Fort Campbell was able to trim the lead to 28-12 going into the 4th quarter.

With the Lady Lyons playing several younger players in the final quarter, neither team was able to find much of an offensive stride. Both Fort Campbell and Lyon County managed just one field goal in the final eight minutes to reach the final 30-14 score.

Rose Smith led the way for Lyon County with 10 points. Lydia P’Poole added six points, while Allison Murphy had 4.

Asia Cabili scored all 14 points and had 8 rebounds in the game for the Lady Falcons.

Lyon County improves to 7-8, and gets ready to play Dawson Springs in the All A Classic Monday. Fort Campbell falls to 0-18 and will take on Livingston Central Monday evening in All A play.
