Caldwell County had one player named first-team all-state and another selected second team on the 2018 Associated Press Kentucky High School All-State Football Team, which was announced on Monday. Hopkinsville also had a first-team selection.

Caldwell senior Trel Riley was named to the first team at defensive back while his senior teammate Jameer Riley was a second-team pick. Hoptown offensive lineman William Long also made the AP’s first team.

Caldwell had two other players receive honorable mention all-state after posting an 8-4 mark this past season — senior quarterback Joby Jaggers and senior wide receiver Oliver Parker.

Others on the honorable mention list included Hopkinsville defensive lineman Denarius Barnes, Hoptown wide receiver Maurice Jesse, Crittenden County running back Devon Nesbitt and Crittenden wide receiver Ethan Dossett.

Wandale Robinson of Western Hills, who is headed to Nebraska after originally committing to Kentucky, was named the 2018 Kentucky Mr. Football.

Brandon Smith of South Warren was named Coach of the Year. Todd County Central’s Darrel Keith was among other coaches receiving votes.

Sixteen media representatives from across the state voted in the AP balloting.
