Home Sweet Home helped Caldwell County break a brief two-game skid.

After road losses at Madisonville-North Hopkins and Webster County last week, the Tigers returned to the friendly confines of the CAB gym and upended Calloway County 71-63 on Tuesday.

Caldwell, now 11-6, used 13-2 runs in each of the first two quarters to forge a 35-19 advantage at halftime.

The Tigers took their biggest lead of the night on a 3-pointer by John Davis early in the third quarter. That put Caldwell up by 19 points at 40-21.

However, Calloway (8-11) chipped away at the lead behind the offensive attack of Cade Butler and Chandler Steele.

A Steele bucket from inside had the Lakers within 61-55 with still 3:46 to play in the contest.

But that’s as close as Calloway could get.

Two free throws by Davis, then a layup by Davis pushed Caldwell’s lead back to double figures at 65-55. Derrin Boyd scored Caldwell’s last six points to help hold the Lakers at bay.

Boyd finished with 27 points and six rebounds while Davis added 25 points for the Tigers.

Butler led Calloway with 24 points while Steele finished with 22 points and eight boards.

Next up for Caldwell is a 7th District makeup date at Hopkins County Central on Thursday.
