Free Throws Lift Vienna Over Fort Campbell at Superman Classic

A big fourth quarter lifted Vienna, Ill., to a 73-63 win over Fort Campbell’s guys on Saturday at the Superman Classic in Metropolis, Ill.

The Falcons (5-12) carried a 50-49 edge to the final period, but saw the Eagles (10-13) outscore them 24-13 over the final 8 minutes to claim the victory.

Vienna did much of its damage at the charity stripe in the fourth quarter. The Eagles made 12 of 17 of free throws in the final frame. Meanwhile, Fort Campbell was 1 for 3 at the line in the fourth period.

For the game, Vienna was 28 of 36 on free throws while Fort Campbell was 5 of 9.

Lane Ross had 19 points to lead Vienna while Zane Hutchison had 12, Dave Snell and Carter Bishop had 11 points apiece and Matthew Naese 10.

For Fort Campbell, Doryan Hall hit five 3-pointers and totaled 17 points. DeAndre Jackson had 11 points and seven rebounds while Cameron Pratt had eight points. Cameron Johnson grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and added six points.

Vienna led 18-16 after one quarter, but Fort Campbell went ahead 37-33 at halftime.

The Falcons, who have now dropped six straight games, are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday when they visit Clarksville Academy.
