The Christian County Colonels came out on fire from behind the three-point line against visiting DuPont Manual on Saturday, going a perfect 6-6 from long range in the first quarter to build a huge lead they would hold the rest of the way.  After leading by as many as 41 points in the third quarter, the Colonels coasted to a 66-33 victory over the Crimsons.

The Colonels have won three of four to improve to 12-12 overall.  The Crimsons had a rough weekend in Hopkinsville, falling by 22 to Hoptown on Friday night before Saturday’s blowout loss to the Colonels.

Four different Colonels knocked down 3-pointers in the first quarter, with Eric Brody and Stephon Bussell each connecting on a couple, while DaMikeon Mathis and Kobe Dillard each hit one.  The Colonels led 16-2 after a Fred Tandy bucket with 3:45 left in the opening frame, before taking a 24-8 advantage into the second quarter.

The second quarter was more of the same, as the Colonels held the Crimsons to only 5 points.  Nate McGregor matched that output on his own, helping Christian County to a 44-13 lead at the break.

The Colonel defense continued to make things difficult in the third quarter, with Manual only managing 4 points on the way to a 58-17 score with 8 minutes to play.

The fourth quarter was a formality, with both teams pulling their starters for much of the remainder of the game.  The Crimsons did manage 14 points to make the final score a somewhat more respectable 66-33.

Brody led three Colonels in double figures with 15, followed by Bussell with 12 and Tandy with 11.

Eli Roberts was the only Manual player in double figures for the second straight game, finishing with 11.
