Two Trigg Wrestlers Finish in Top Two at Fort Knox

Trigg County had two wrestlers finish in the top two Saturday at the Fort Knox Wrestling Invitational.

Colin Stevens won the 182-pound class. The No. 4 wrestler statewide, Stevens defeated Sam Teutsch of Caldwell County, Chance Schenck of Central Hardin by forfeit, and Cameron Bixler of Anderson County by fall on his way to the title.

In his first match of the year, Ethan Futrell finished second in the 132-pound class. He defeated Jakob Norwood of Central Hardin and David Gerkin of Apollo by pins before losing to No. 10 Jonathan Phillips of Trinity by fall in the championship match.

Futrell is working his way back from a broken collarbone suffered in the preseason.

Other wrestlers who won at least two matches but didn’t place were:

Timmy Cannon won three matches at 113. He defeated Isaac Fain of Lafayette by fall in the third consolation round before falling to No. 14 Mason Polston of Central Hardin in the consolation semifinal.

Ty Saez won two matches at 285. He beat Taylor County’s Zachary Patton 5-3 before losing to Bill Bradley of Sayre 3-0 in the championship match.

Trigg County scored 65 points to finish 12th out of 23 teams at the event.
