Lyon County’s girls made quick work of a shorthanded Fort Campbell squad Thursday night at Jason White Gymnasium in Eddyville.

The Lady Lyons (11-9) needed just 58 minutes to post a 49-15 victory over the winless Lady Falcons (0-20).

Fort Campbell had just five players in uniform for the contest, but avoided being “mercy-ruled” by Lyon. The Lady Lyons did lead by as much as 34 points twice in the fourth quarter, including the final margin.

Lyon, which won for the fourth straight outing and the fifth time in its last six games, opened the game with a 9-0 run and led 11-2 after 8 minutes.

The Lady Lyons led 19-6 after a swift first half that saw the two teams combine for just three total fouls. Lyon was called for just one foul in the entire contest while playing a sagging zone defense.

Lyon scored the first eight points of the second half to make it 27-6.

After a 3-pointer by Danielle Houston broke the run for Fort Campbell, Lyon ran off 16 straight points to take its biggest lead of the contest at 43-9.

No one scored in double figures for Lyon, which substituted liberally throughout the game. Allison Murphy had nine points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Lyons while Cathryn Brown and Rose Smith each had nine points apiece as well.

Fort Campbell got six points from Lilliauna Powers. Aliya Powers and NaKecia Pollock each had nine rebounds to go along with two points.

Lyon beat Fort Campbell for the second time this season.

The Lady Lyons will next host University Heights Academy on Saturday at 2 p.m. as part of the Akridge Ace Hardware Shootout.

Fort Campbell will entertain Christian Fellowship School on Saturday.
