In a game that can only be described as a ‘foul fest,’ Trigg County beat University Heights Academy 65-41 Thursday at Wildcat Gym. It was Trigg’s first win over UHA in a decade.

The teams combined for 52 fouls that resulted in 67 free throws. Trigg hit 18-of-34, while UHA hit just 13-of-33.

UHA struggled without point guard and leading scorer Lily Hendricks, who missed her second straight game with an injury she sustained in the All-A Classic State Tournament. The Lady Blazers turned the ball over 29 times that led to 23 points for Trigg County.

Trigg County led 15-8 after one quarter and extended it to 34-17 by halftime.

The Lady Wildcats were able to hold off a Lady Blazer challenge in the second half by shooting 40-percent from the field. UHA got as close as 12 points midway through the third quarter, but Trigg County ended the frame on a 10-2 run to take control.

Trigg County was led by freshman Marleigh Reynolds, who scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. T.T. Grubbs added eight points and nine rebounds, while

Logan Darnall came off the bench to score seven points and grab nine boards. Katelyn Slone (8 points) and Bethany Stallons (7 points) also contributed to the Lady Wildcat scoring.

University Heights had two players reach double figures. Meghan Adams scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Alex Juckett added 12 points and four assists. Breanna Daniel scored seven points, and Shiyah Forte had six points and 14 rebounds.

UHA (12-9) has dropped three straight games and looks to get back into the win column Saturday at Lyon County.

Trigg County improved to 11-14 with the win. They host Dawson Springs Monday. A win in their final four games would give them the most in a season since 2003.
