Webster County Buries Hoptown with 12 Treys in 76-36 Win

Hopkinsville ran into a buzz saw Tuesday as they traveled to Dixon and lost to Webster County 76-36. The Lady Trojans have won 16 straight games against region competition dating back to last year.

Buckets were tough to come by for the Lady Tigers, who trailed 26-7 after one quarter and 44-13 at halftime.

Webster County hit 12 three-pointers in the contest, with Marissa Austin knocking down five and Karlie Keeney adding four. Austin finished with 26 points, and Keeney had 28. Only five Webster players scored in the contest.

Webster County improved to 24-3 on the season, including 10-0 at home.

Breon Oldham led Hoptown with nine points, and Jayla Rose added eight points. Yogi McKnight and Donisha Flowers each scored six.

The loss was Hoptown’s third straight and sixth in their last eight games. The 40-point loss is the worst for Hoptown since a 91-43 loss to Henderson County on Jan. 27, 2015.

Hopkinsville (14-13) will play at University Heights Saturday.
