With the basketball season about to enter the final week of regular season play, the UHA Lady Blazers were in need of a win. Since their appearance in the All A classic state tournament, the Lady Blazers had been on a bit of a skid, losing five in a row.

Thursday night, UHA put an end to that losing skid with a 43-22 win at Fort Campbell. While the win ended a short losing skid for the Lady Blazers, the game extended a long losing streak for the Lady Falcons. The contest marked the highest offensive output of the season for Fort Campbell, topping their previous high of 20, which was back on December 18.

UHA took control of the game right off the opening tip. The Lady Blazer defense shut out Fort Campbell in the opening eight minutes, as UHA jumped out to a 13-0 lead.

The Lady Blazer defense continued to lock down on the Lady Falcons in the second quarter. UHA allowed only a 3-point shot from Danielle Houston as they extended the lead to 24-3 at the half.

Behind a balanced effort, the Lady Blazers continued to extend the lead in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Fort Campbell 13-9, and moving the lead on out to 37-12 heading into the final quarter. The Lady Falcons were able to outscore the UHA reserves 10-6 in the final quarter to trim the final margin down to 21 points.

UHA was led by Mallory Rager with 10 points. Lily Hendricks and Breanna Daniel scored 8 points each.

Fort Campbell’s Danielle Houston led all scorers with 15 points on five 3-pointers.

The loss was the 78th in a row for the Lady Falcons. Their last win came back on February 5, 2016, when Fort Campbell knocked off Trigg County 69-65. For the season, the Lady Falcons are now 0-22 on the season.

With the win, the Lady Blazers improve to 13-11 overall and 2-3 in 8th District play.
