Caldwell County swimmer Aaron Ziobro just missed qualifying for the state meet after a third place finish at the Region I Swim Meet Saturday in Paducah.
Ziobro took third place in the 100-yard fly and knocked nearly two seconds off his time in the preliminaries at 1:00.01. He finished nearly three seconds out of second place and missed advancing to state by .05 seconds.
The Caldwell County junior also finished seventh in the 50-yard freestyle, improving his time from the preliminaries by nearly a half-second.
Ziobro scored all 28 points for Caldwell County, which gave them an 11th place showing at region. Ziobro is the only member of the Caldwell County swim team. He trains with Muhlenberg County High at their facilities.
