Hoptown Celebrates Senior Night With Rout of Fort Campbell

The Hopkinsville Tigers celebrated Senior Night in style on Monday, building a big, early lead and cruising to a 78-43 victory over visiting Fort Campbell.  The Tigers win their fourth in five tries to move to 16-10 overall, 4-2 in the 8th District.  The Falcons slip to 5-19 on the year.

The Tigers used 8 points from D’Evan Williams and 7 from Jacarius Burks to open up an 18-0 lead.  Fort Campbell’s Doryan Hall hit two 3-pointers in the last minute of the first quarter, but Hoptown led 22-6 after one.

Williams kept the hot hand in the second quarter, pouring in 14 points to go with 5 each from fellow seniors James Nicholas, Jamarion Sharp, and Burks.  Fort Campbell’s Cameron Johnson heated up just before the half, knocking down three 3-pointers in the final minutes for a 53-20 score.

The Tigers shot a blistering 67% from the field in the first half, including 7-12 from 3 for 58%.

Johnson hit two more 3-pointers in the third quarter, and the Falcons outscored the Tigers 16-15.  Both teams subbed heavily throughout the fourth quarter, and the Tigers eased to a 35-point victory.

The Tiger seniors accounted for 61 of the 78 points, with Williams leading the way with 22.  Nicholas and Burks finished with 12 each, and Sharp had 11.  Montrelle Coates and Tefrell Toliver each had a basket.

Johnson was the lone Falcon in double figures with 15.  Hall finished with 8.
