Colonels Drop Road Contest to Union County 65-57

Union County sophomore Kale Gaither scored 22 of his 29 points in the second half as the Braves overcame a fourth quarter deficit to beat Christian County 65-57 Tuesday in Morganfield.

The Colonels led 25-20 and held on to a 44-42 lead after three quarters. Gaither scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and was the only Brave in double figures. Kaleb Kanipe added nine points.

Damikeon Mathis scored seven of his team-high 14 points in the third quarter.

Freshman Qua Chambers got the start and scored 11 points, while Fred Tandy added 10 points. Leading scorer Eric Brody did not play for the Colonels.

Christian County hit just 11-of-21 free throws in the game, while Union County was 11-of-13 – all in the second half.

Union County has won six of seven games and improved to 16-8.

Christian County (13-15) will visit Pulaski County Thursday to close out the regular season.
