Rebels Can’t Snap Skid in Regular-Season Finale

The Todd County Central boys’ basketball team fell 62-50 at Allen County-Scottsville on Thursday night, closing the regular season on a 14-game skid to finish at 5-23.  The Patriots stand at 21-6, winners of four of five.

The Rebels open post-season play at home on Monday with a match-up with top-seeded Logan County in the 13th-District tournament.  The Cougars claimed both regular-season meetings with the Rebels.

Clayte Weathers and Preston Moore combined for 11 first-quarter points, but the Patriots used 8 points from Brett Rippy to lead 18-14.  Both teams struggled to find the range in the second, combining for only 12 points.  Allen County led 26-18 at the halftime break.

Austin Rager put up 6 points in the third for the Rebels, but Owen Stamper scored 8 and Mason Shirley added 6 to help the Patriots stretch the advantage to 14 with one quarter to play.

Todd County outscored the Patriots 17-15 over the last 8 minutes, with Kimahri Briggs leading the way with 6 points.

Rippy finished with 17 for the Patriots to lead all scorers, followed by Stamper with 14 and Shirley with 13.

Jon Calvery led the Rebels with 17, followed by Weather with 9.  Rager, Briggs and Moore each scored 8.
