No one is happier to see Fort Campbell move into a new gym than Trigg County. The Wildcats dropped 15-of-22 games in the old Falcon Gym that opened in 1986 and closed last year. They got off to a good start in the Falcons’ new gym with a 53-43 win on post Thursday.

Up 32-24 with 2:13 left in the third quarter, Trigg County watched as Fort Campbell went on a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the second half 33-32 just 20 seconds into the fourth quarter.

Trigg County righted the ship and answered with a 9-0 run of their own as five different players scored in building a 41-33 lead with 4:30 left. The Falcons would get to within four points on two different occasions and hit just enough free throws (8-of-15) in the fourth quarter to stave off any Falcon run.

Kion Thompson scored all 12 of his points in the first half and added three steals on defense. Jakobe Bridges also scored 12 point and led the Wildcats on the glass with nine boards.

Andrew Syester, who began the year at Fort Campbell before moving to Trigg County in December, scored eight points and had seven rebounds against his former school.

Cameron Johnson led Fort Campbell with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Nathan Lake scored nine points off the bench.

Trigg County had to overcome 23 turnovers in the contest while forcing Fort Campbell into 24.

The Falcons drop to 5-20 with their 14th straight loss. It marks the first time in three years the Falcons were swept by Trigg in the regular season.

Trigg County (11-16) will open play in the Fifth District Tournament Monday against Lyon County at Livingston Central High School.
