Caldwell County grad Eli Pepper and the Lipscomb Bisons fell short in their bid for back-to-back ASUN Tournament championships on Sunday afternoon, falling to Liberty 74-68 in Nashville.

Pepper was limited to four points and three rebounds in the setback.

Liberty earns the league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

However, there is still basketball to be played for Lipscomb. The Bisons have an outside shot of receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Lipscomb concludes the ASUN Championship with a NET ranking of 42nd and a record of 25-7.

As the regular-season champions in the conference, the Bisons are at the very least guaranteed a spot in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The selection shows for both tournaments will be next Sunday, March 17.
