3-15-colbert

Trigg County bounced back from a loss to state-ranked Warren East earlier in the week with a 4-2 win over Franklin-Simpson Friday in the final preseason tune-up for the Lady Wildcats.

Trigg struck for three runs in the first inning. Hannah Colbert lifted a fly ball to right that was misplayed into a run. Autumn Durham had singled earlier in the inning and scored. Alyssa Southwood followed with a two-run triple to right that put Trigg ahead 3-0.

Colbert led off the third inning with a towering home run over the left field fence to round out the scoring for Trigg.

Franklin-Simpson, who won 17 games and the 13th District title last year, scored twice in the fourth inning on a two-run single by Kaeliegh Tuck.

Colbert allowed three hits and two runs while striking out 12 and walking two. Phelan Dossett had two of Trigg County’s six hits.

The Lady Wildcats open their 2019 season Tuesday at Stewart County, Tenn.
