Hoptown Ties for Seventh Place at State Powerlifting Meet

Hopkinsville had a lifter claim a state title and another finish as runner-up at the 40th Annual Kentucky State Powerlifting Meet at Central Hardin High School Saturday.

William Long battled a nagging injury to win the 250-pound class by 45 pounds. His bench press was 370 pounds, and his clean was 260 pounds for a total of 630 pounds, which was third-highest on the afternoon.

Tyler Thomas finished second in the 155-pound class with a total lift of 470 pounds, 10 pounds behind first place Logan Green of Henderson County. Thomas had a bench press of 225 pounds and a clean of 245 pounds.

Other Hopkinsville lifters that finished in the top 10 at the state meet were:

Korbyn Newsome – 4th at 175 (510 total)
Jaxon Davis – 4th at 195 (500 total)
Erick Grubbs – 5th at 220 (525 total)
Hayden Lackey – 6th at 195 (480 total)
Isaac Linzy – 6th at 155 (435 total)
Quinton Carlton – 6th at 235 (465 total)
Grayson Eller – 8th at 155 (425 total)
Reece Jesse – 9th t 185 (460 total)
Tahj Manning – 10th at Heavyweight (540 total)

As a team, Hopkinsville scored 24 points to finish tied for seventh place. Trigg County won the team title with 42 points.
