Lady Colonels Look Ready For Season After Scrimmage Win Over Marshall

It appears the Christian County Lady Colonels are ready for the 2019 softball season to get underway. In their final preseason scrimmage, the defending 2nd Region champions squared off with the defending 1st Region champion Marshall County Lady Marshals and came away with an 8-1 scrimmage win.

The Lady Colonels scored in five of their seven at bats in the contest, plating three runs in the first, one in the second, one in the 5th, one in the sixth, and two in the 7th.

Tyler Shemwell had a huge day for the Lady Colonels on her 18th birthday. Shemwell hit two home runs, a double, and came up with 4 RBIs. Emmy Blane also had a two run homer for Christian County.

The Lady Colonels were solid in the circle as well. Hannah Sumner got the start for Christian County and allowed only two hits over four innings, striking out three. Marshall County did not hit a ball out of the infield while Sumner was in the circle.

Riley Hancock pitched two innings, while Kelsey O’Daniel pitched the top of the 7th inning. Hancock gave up one hit and one unearned run. O’Daniel gave up one hit and struck out one.

The Lady Colonels will officially open the season Tuesday on the road at Fort Campbell.
