The Christian County baseball team picked up a 4-2 road win over Paducah Tilghman on Friday night, slowing down a Blue Tornado attack that had scored in double digits in each of its previous three games.  The Colonels improve to 2-1, while Paducah Tilghman suffers its first loss of the season to slip to 3-1.

Colonels’ starter Wyatt Stevenson struck out 8 over the first 3.2 innings, before the Blue Tornado broke through on an RBI single by Eric Riffe.  The Colonels answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning when Elijah Owens and Payton George drew back-to-back bases-loaded walks.

Stevenson added to the lead with an RBI single in the top of the sixth, before Lane Diuguid scored on a fielder’s choice for a 4-1 advantage.

The Blue Tornado got a run back in the bottom of the sixth, with Eric Silvy relieving Stevenson after a walk to open the inning.  With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Paducah Tilghman’s Mitchell Crouch doubled to put runners on second and third, but Silvy induced a ground out to close out the victory.

Stevenson earned the win, working five innings while allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.  Silvy yielded a single hit with a couple of walks and a strikeout over the final two frames.

Jackson Fristoe took the loss for Paducah Tilghman, lasting 4.2 innings, walking 10 and striking out 9, while allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits.
