Lady Lyons Go Deep But Fall Short in Two Losses

Franklin-Simpson pushed across a run in the fourth inning to hand Lyon County a 6-5 loss Friday in the second game of the Lady Cat Classic in Bowling Green. Lyon lost to No. 15 South Warren 11-0 in the opener.

The Lady Wildcats plated five runs in the first inning as two errors, two walks, and three hits were the undoing of Lyon County. The Lady Lyons got two runs back in the third when Sydney Melton tripled, and Calista Collins belted her second home run of the season.

Lyon tied the game in the fourth inning when Kerstin Craft smacked a one-out double. Tori Schenk singled her home and later scored ahead of Sydney Melton’s home run to left field.

Franklin-Simpson scored the eventual game-winning run on a walk and two singles. Both teams had six hits in the game.

Kaelyn Conger struck out six and allowed six hits in the game. Only one of Franklin-Simpson’s six runs was earned.

In the opener, Lyon County was limited to two hits by South Warren’s Taylor Enlow. She struck out five and walked four.

Calista Collins doubled, and Gracen Wynn tripled for Lyon County’s two hits.

Lyon County (1-4) will play Logan County and No. 2 Warren East Saturday in Bowling Green.
