It was a tough Saturday for the Trigg County Wildcats. The Wildcats traveled to Muhlenberg County and dropped a pair of contests, getting no-hit 4-0 by Hancock County, and then falling to the host Mustangs 10-6.

In the opener, Hancock County got all the offense they would need in the bottom of the first inning, as the Hornets took a 1-0 lead after the opening inning. Hancock County would add a run in the bottom of the 2nd, and 2 more in the bottom of the 5th.

Meanwhile, the Hornet’s starting pitcher was overpowering against the Wildcats, not allowing a hit over seven innings. He struck out 14 Wildcats, while walking only one.

Hayden Cunningham went 4 1/3 for Trigg County, giving up four runs, three of them earned, on just one hit, striking out three, while walking two. Keegan Slone went 1 2/3, giving up no runs, on one hit, and walking two.

In the second game, Muhlenberg County jumped out to a 10-1 lead after 5 ½ innings and then held on for a 10-6 win over the Wildcats. Trigg County scored five runs over the final two innings of the game, but the hole was too deep by that point to dig their way out.

Jacob Kent went 2-3 for Trigg County, with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Andrew Williamson was 2-4, with two runs scored.

Trevor Cortner went the longest of five Wildcat pitchers in the game, going five innings, giving up seven runs, four of them earned, on nine hits, striking out three and walking three.
