The Fort Campbell baseball team saw a comeback bid fall just short Thursday night at Webster County, as they battled back from a 3-run deficit before losing 3-2 to the Trojans.  The Falcons slip to 1-3 on the year, while Webster County wins its third in four tries to even its record at 4-4.

Webster County led 3-0 in the top of the fifth, before a double by Ryan Sawyer brought home Tyler MacKay to get the Falcons on the board.  Sawyer later crossed the plate on a wild pitch to pull within a run at 3-2.

However, the Trojans’ Brendon Thompson relieved starter Dylan Sowders to start the sixth, striking out five of the seven Falcon batters he faced over the final two frames to seal the win.

Sawyer took the loss for the Falcons, working six innings while allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits, with a walk and 8 strikeouts.  Sawyer and Peyton Loveall each had a couple of hits, with Sawyer driving in a run.

Sowders earned the win for Webster County, pitching five innings and yielding 2 earned runs on 6 hits, with a couple of walks and 6 strikeouts.  Luke May and Landon Black each went 2-3, with May driving in a run.
