Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Drop Two in Queen City Classic

A tough start Friday night for the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers in the Queen City Classic down in Clarksville. The Lady Tigers dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Cheatham County Central, and then were shutout 12-0 by Hardin County.

In the opener, Cheatham County scored a run in the top of the 4th inning to break a 3-3 tie and then held on for the win in the 5 inning contest. Hopkinsville fell behind 3-0 in the second inning, but then scored three runs in the bottom of the 3rd to tie the game. The big hits in the inning were RBI doubles from Marley Hancock and Sebrina Hodge.

Cheatham County scored the go-ahead run in the 4th inning on a Lady Tiger error.

Sebrina Hodge was 1-2, with a double, and two RBIs. Marley Hancock was 1-3, with a double, and an RBI.

Marley Hancock went the distance in the circle, giving up four runs, none of them earned, on six hits, striking out one and walking three. Hancock was hampered by the Lady Tigers committing four errors in the field.

In the second game of the evening, Hardin County scored six runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, as they rolled to the 12-0 three inning win. Hardin County scored five more runs in the second, and finished off with another run in the third.

Meanwhile, in the cirlce, Hardin County did not allow the Lady Tigers a baserunner in the contest.

Morgan Hodge and Marley Hancock split the pitching duties for the Lady Tigers, giving up 12 runs, nine of them earned, on only six hits, while giving up 8 walks in the game.
