A 7th inning rally came up just short for the Caldwell County Lady Tigers Friday as they dropped their second game of the day at the Bob Jones Tournament in Huntsville. Entering the top of the 7th trailing 4-0, Caldwell County got a two run homer from Madi Choate to cut the lead to 4-2, but could get no closer as Ardmore held on for the 4-2 win.

Ardmore used an early mistake by the Lady Tigers to take a first inning lead. A two out error with runners at second and third allowed Ardmore to plate two runs to go up 2-0 after one.

Ardmore got RBI singles in the second and the fourth to extend the lead to 4-0.

Caldwell County’s most serious threat came in the 7th when Haley Stiles led off the inning with a single. That was followed by Choate’s home run. However, Ardmore’s Sydney Hall, who finished with 15 strikeouts, struck out the next three batters to close out the game.

Madi Choate ended up 1-2, with a home run, two RBIs, a run scored, and a walk, to lead the Caldwell County effort. Mashea Glover, Allie Felker, Katie Franklin, and Haley Stiles also had a hit apiece for the Lady Tigers.

Katie Franklin went the distance in the circle for Caldwell County, giving up four runs, only one of them earned, on three hits, striking out five and walking five.
