The Trigg County baseball team opened play at the Warren County Invitational with a pair of games decided in the seventh inning on Friday, falling 4-3 Meade County before using a late rally to top Warren East 4-1 in the nightcap.  The Wildcats will continue play at Warren East on Saturday, facing Barren County in the morning, followed by a game with Greenwood in the afternoon.

With the Wildcats trailing Meade County 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Arlon Butts and Jude Hunter came up with two-out RBI singles to give them a 3-2 lead.  However, the Green Wave answered with 2 runs in the top of the seventh to regain the advantage, before closing out the Wildcats in the bottom of the inning to seal the win.

Hayden Cunningham took the loss, working six innings while yielding 4 runs, 2 earned, on 3 hits, with 8 walks and 4 strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Colton Sumner turned in seven strong innings on the mound and the Wildcats were on the other end of a seventh-inning rally to pull out a 4-1 victory.

An RBI single by Hunter gave the Wildcats the lead in the second, with Warren East tying the game in the bottom of the fourth.  The deadlock held into the top of the seventh, when Cunningham and Jacob Kent hit back-to-back RBI doubles for a 4-1 advantage.

Things got interesting in the bottom of the inning, with the Raiders leading-off with a double, followed by a hit by pitch, but Sumner retired the next three batters to claim the victory.

Sumner scattered 4 hits while allowing a single unearned run, striking out two and walking three.
