4th Inning Home Run Carries McCracken County Past Caldwell County

The Caldwell County Lady Tigers hit the road Tuesday evening and suffered their fourth straight loss. The McCracken County Lady Mustangs broke a tie game with a three run homer in the bottom of the 4th inning on the way to a 5-2 win over the Lady Tigers.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd inning. McCracken used two singles and a double to take a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the 4th inning, Caldwell County took advantage of a McCracken County error to even the game up. Haley Stiles drove in the tying run with a two out single to tie things up at 1-1.

A double and a Caldwell County error set the stage for the 3-run home run in the bottom of the 4th inning that put McCracken County in front 4-1.

Katie Franklin led off the top of the sixth with a home run to left field to cut the lead to 4-2. But that would be as close as the Lady Tigers could get. McCracken would add an insurance run in the bottom of the inning to get to the final margin.

Haley Stiles was 2-3 in the game with an RBI. Katie Franklin went 1-3, with a home run, and an RBI.

In the circle, Katie Franklin went six innings, giving up five runs, four of them earned, on nine hits, striking out six and walking one.
