Wildcats Finally Dodge Storms to Beat Storm 11-5

Trigg County and Hopkins County Central have tried to play baseball every year since 2011. And every year, their game or games have been canceled due to weather. Thursday, they were finally able to avoid the rain, and Trigg County notched an 11-5 win in Morton’s Gap.

Jude Hunter smacked his first home run of the year and drove in three runs as the Wildcats banged out 12 hits in the contest. Hunter’s shot was part of a six-run fourth inning that broke a 4-4 deadlock.

Arlon Butts added a double as part of a three-hit night, and he drove in two runs. Jacob Kent and Adrew Syester also had two hits apiece for the Wildcats, who took advantage of six walks and five Storm errors.

Trey Carr picked up the win in relief for the Wildcats. He threw the final five innings and allowed one earned run while striking out seven batters.

Colin Garrett had two hits for Hopkins County Central (4-10).

Trigg County (8-5) will play in the Dinger Wood Bat Classic Friday and Saturday in Mayfield.
