The Livingston Central Cardinals used a big inning at the start and another big inning at the finish to pick up a win Saturday at University Heights. The Cardinals plated six runs in the first, and another six in the top of the 7th on their way to the 13-5 win.

Livingston came out of the gate flying, as the first nine batters of the game reached base. The only out was when Michael Barrow, who had singled, was thrown out at the plate. By the time the onslaught was over, the Cardinals held a 6-0 lead before the Blazers had a chance to get to the plate.

Things stayed fairly quiet until the bottom of the 3rd. UHA got on the board when Drew McGowan singled, stole second, and then scored on a ground out to cut the lead to 6-1.

In the bottom of the 5th, Dustin Moon doubled and then scored on a Drew McGowan single. McGowan then stole second, and scored on two errors on the same play to make it a 6-3 game.

The Cardinals extended the lead to 7-3 in the top of the 6th on a couple of walks and a stolen base.

UHA then converted a walk, a hit batter, and a Livingston error into two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Dustin Moon drove in both runs with a single to left field and cut the Livingston lead to 7-5.

The Cardinals then put the game away with six runs in the top of the 7th. Four walks and two Blazer errors were responsible for most of the damage in the inning.

For the game, Drew McGowan was 2-3, with an RBI, and two runs scored. Dustin Moon was 2-3, with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.

Luke Welch took the loss for the Blazers, going six innings, giving up 6 earned runs, on eight hits, striking out four, and walking five.
