Long Ball Propels Caldwell County to Marshall County Slugfest Finale

Caldwell County split their final two games of the Marshall County Slugfest Saturday to finish their two-day trip across the lakes with a 3-1 record.

Katie Franklin and Emma Staples each went yard for the Lady Tigers in their 7-1 win over Muhlenberg County. Staples also doubled as part of a three-hit game. Franklin had two RBIs.

Majah Hollowell added a double as part of the seven-hit Lady Tiger effort at the plate.

Franklin picked up the pitching win, allowing just three hits and no earned runs. She struck out six and walked one.

Caldwell was able to take advantage of eight Muhlenberg errors to score four unearned runs.

In their opening game of the day, both teams did all of their scoring in the fourth inning of a 3-2 Graves County win.

Allie Felker and Haley Stiles led off the inning with singles. Felker scored on a Karlie Rennison groundout. Stiles scored on a Majah Hollowell sacrifice fly.

Carson Travis plated all three Graves County run with a bases clearing double to right field. Caldwell outhit Graves 6-5 but committed three errors.

Franklin struck out five for the Lady Tigers (6-9), who will host Trigg County Monday.
