Trigg County Sweeps Final Two Games of Dinger Wood Bat Classic

After a walk-off loss Friday in the Dinger Wood Bat Classic in Mayfield, Trigg County rebounded with a pair of wins Saturday to run their season record to 9-6.

Arlon Butts doubled home the winning runs in the sixth inning to give the Wildcats a 4-3 win over St. Mary. It was their first win over the Vikings in nine years.

Butts drove in three of Trigg County’s four runs. He leads the team with 24 RBIs in 14 games. Riley Stallons also had a pair of hits for the Wildcats.

Colton Sumner got the win in relief of Hayden Cunningham. Sumner pitched five innings of three-hit baseball. He struck out four and walked just one.

In their second game of the day, Trigg County scored in every inning to beat Memphis Whitehaven 13-3.  Hayden Cunningham had three hits and drove in two runs, while Arlon Butts also had two hits.

Andrew Williamson, Riley Stallons, Andrew Syester, and Bryce Cunningham each joined Hayden Cunningham with two RBIs.

Stallons got his first pitching win of the season with three innings of no-hit baseball. He struck out six.

Trigg County will host Lyon County Tuesday in a Fifth District contest at the Complex.
