While neither #1 pitcher started the game between the Christian County Lady Colonels and the Webster County Lady Trojans Saturday afternoon, both were called upon to finish out the game between arguably the two best teams in the 2nd Region at this point in the season. Webster County’s Karlie Keeney was able to get out of a bases loaded jam with no outs in the bottom of the 7th inning, as the Lady Trojans held on for a 7-5 win over the Lady Colonels.

Webster County broke open a 2-2 tie with four runs in the top of the 4th inning to take a 6-2 lead over the Lady Colonels. In the inning, Webster County chased both Christian County starter Riley Hancock and reliever Gracie Harned. Hannah Sumner, after going 8 innings earlier in the day, came in to stop the big inning for the Lady Trojans and would finish out the game.

Christian County rallied in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs to trim the lead to 6-5. The big hit in the inning was a two run single from Hope Jones.

Webster County starter Grace Scott walked Taylor Shemwell to open the bottom of the 5th inning, prompting the Webster County coaching staff to bring Karlie Keeney into the game. Keeney had just pitched the Lady Trojans to a 2-0 win over McCracken County. Keeney would set down the next three batters to end the threat.

Keeney helped her own cause in the top of the 6th, blasting a home run to deep left field, extending the Webster County lead to 7-5.

In the bottom of the 7th, things got quite interesting. Hope Jones reached on an error. Keeney then walked Reni Shemwell and Taylor Shemwell to load the bases with no outs. Keeney then buckled down to strike out the next three batters and preserve the Webster County win.

Pickle Winkler had a big game for the Lady Colonles, going 3-4, with an RBI, and a run scored. Hope Jones ended up 2-4, with 2 RBIs, and two runs scored.
