Lady Lyons Keep Rolling With 8-0 Shutout at Trigg County

Lyon County’s softball team is playing with a purpose, and everyone in the Second Region is finding that out. Kaelyn Conger was strong in the circle and at the plate as the Lady Lyons beat Trigg County 8-0 Tuesday for their 10th win in their last 11 games.

Conger pitched a three-hitter, striking out seven and walking three as the Lyons notched their fourth shutout of the season. She also had a hit and three RBIs at the plate.

Lyon struck for three runs in the first inning and made Trigg play from behind all game. Sydney Melton walked, was sacrificed to second, and scored on a Calista Collins single. After a wild pitch plated Tori Schenk from third base, Conger grounded out to plate the third run of the inning.

Trigg County had a chance to dent the scoreboard in the home half of the first with runners at second and third with one out. Conger struck out the final two batters to extinguish the threat.

In the third, Conger squeezed home Lyon’s fourth run ahead of an RBI single by Hadlie Butler.

Allye Culp had an RBI single in the sixth inning. Collins had an RBI single in the seventh, and Conger drove in her third run of the day with an RBI single.

Hannah Colbert allowed seven hits and three earned runs for the Lady Wildcats. She struck out seven and walked two. She also had one of Trigg’s three hits.

Trigg County (9-11, 1-2) will host Livingston Central in a district matchup Friday.

Lyon County (13-7, 2-1) will entertain Graves County Thursday.
