Tigers Make 2nd Region Statement With Win at Henderson

The Hopkinsville Tigers’ baseball team won its sixth game in seven outings on Tuesday night, going on the road and routing Henderson County 17-5 in six innings.  The Tigers improve to 10-4 overall, knocking-off one of the region’s hottest teams and snapping the Colonels’ five-game winning streak.

The Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, before Henderson’s Jake Murdach homered off Preston Chaudoin to get a run back for the Colonels.  The Tigers led-off the top of the fourth with back-to-back singles by Layne Jorgensen and John Duvall, with Hoptown turning two errors and an RBI single by Chaudoin into a 9-2 advantage.

Up 11-2 in the sixth, Jorgensen doubled to start a two-out rally, followed by RBI singles from Aaron Crosby and Landon Snyder.  Ryan Myers singled to score Snyder for the final 17-5 score.

Chaudoin earned the win for the Tigers, giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits over five innings, while walking 5 and striking out three.

Snyder and Jorgensen had 3 hits each, driving-in 3 and 2, respectively.  Myers, Crosby and Robert Justus finished with 2 RBI each.

Bryce Willett took the loss for the Colonels, lasting three and two-thirds innings and surrendering 8 runs, 5 earned, on 6 hits, with 5 walks and 5 strikeouts.  Murdach and Ian Pitt were both 2-3 with 2 RBI.
