Lady Wildcats Dominant in District Win Over Livingston Central

4-22-darnall

Extra days off due to the weather seemed to help Trigg County and have the opposite effect on Livingston Central Monday. Hannah Colbert pitched a one-hitter and struck out 11 as the Lady Wildcats beat Livingston 10-0 at the Complex.

Trigg County was playing their first game since Tuesday and looked sharp at the plate and in the field.

The Lady Wildcats scored three runs in the first and four more in the fourth inning. Autumn Durham’s two-run single in the first inning staked Trigg County to the quick 2-0 lead. Colbert doubled home Durham for a 3-0 lead.

Trigg added a run on a Kara Southwood single, a walk to Alyssa Southwood, and a Livingston error on a bunt attempt plated two runs.

Kara Southwood doubled home a run, and Adri Phillips laced a bases loaded double down the left field line to clear the bases in the fourth inning for a 9-0 lead.

Logan Darnall singled, stole second, and scored on Livingston Central’s fourth error of the game to end it via the mercy rule. Darnall finished with three of Trigg County’s 11 hits in the game. Durham, Phillips, and Kara Southwood each had two hits at the plate. The 10 runs were the most scored by Trigg County in 20 days.

Meanwhile, Livingston Central was also playing their first game in six days, and the time off made them a touch rusty at the plate and in the field.

In the circle, Colbert threw one of her most dominant games of the year. She retired the first nine batters she faced before allowing a bloop single to Victoria Joiner to lead off the fourth inning. It was the only Lady Cardinal to reach base in the contest.

Colbert needed only 52 pitches to get the win, with 44 of those going for strikes. She struck out 11 and didn’t issue a walk.

The win was Trigg County’s sixth straight against Livingston Central, a school they had only beaten once from 1995-2015.

Livingston Central fell to 8-6 on the season and 0-2 in district play. They will travel to Lyon County Tuesday.

Trigg County improved to 10-11 on the season and 2-2 in district play. They will travel to Crittenden County for another district contest Tuesday.
