Crittenden County scored six unanswered runs to beat Trigg County 6-3 Tuesday, snapping an 11-game regular season district losing streak.
Trigg County scored three runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Jacob Kent and two-run double by Arlon Butts.
Trigg’s box score was an oddity, however. They outhit Crittenden 7-4 and didn’t commit an error. But, the Rockets hit .429 with runners in scoring position and plated five runs in the third inning on two hits, three walks, and two hit batters.
Andrew Williamson tripled in the fifth inning with two out but was stranded at third. Crittenden added an insurance run in the sixth inning. Williamson and Butts both had two hits for Trigg County.
Bryce Cunningham allowed four earned runs in two innings to get the loss. Trey Carr pitched the final four innings in relief, allowing three hits and two earned runs.
Jayden Carlson had two hits for Crittenden County, who improved to 8-7 overall and 1-3 in the district. Ian Ellington picked up the complete game win. He struck out eight and walked just two.
Trigg County saw their 13-game winning streak against Crittenden County dating back to 2014 snapped with the loss. The Wildcats fell to 9-8 on the season and 2-3 in district play.
Trigg County will play at Hopkinsville Wednesday.
