Field Events Carry Colonel Track at Coach Johnson Memorial Classic

The Christian County girls enjoyed standout performances in the field events and Ethan Dooley’s hurdles victory paced the boys at the Coach Johnson Memorial Classic at Fort Campbell on Saturday.  The girls took fourth place out of thirteen teams with 68.5 points, while the boys finished sixth out of fourteen with 48 points.

On the girls’ side, Ariyonna Johnson claimed the top spot in the high jump with a height of 4-10, while Cierra Ward earned third in the long jump at 16-01.00.  Ward also took second in the triple jump at 34-04.25, followed by Autumn Bell in third with a 33-00.50.  Arianna Cushenberry and Jameisha Mack went one-two in the discus at 85-06 and 84-07, respectively.

 

On the track, the 4×100 relay team of Destine Govan, Eniya McGee, Ward and Zniya Benson finished third with a time of 52.33, and Bell took runner-up in the 200M with a time of 27.17.

For the boys, Hasai Powell’s sixth in the discus (115-00) and eighth in the shot put (39-03.50) were the highest finishes in the field events, but the Colonels had more success on the track.  Ethan Dooley highlighted the day with an emphatic 16.28 to take first in the 110M hurdles, with Kenyon Drayton just behind with a 17.42 in third place.  K’Ron Sherald turned in a time of 51.85 in the 400M, good enough for second place, while also combining with Dooley, Tywon Nance and Tyler West to take fifth in the 4x400M relay.
