For the first time in three years, Trigg County will be sending two teams to the KHSAA State Bass Fishing Tournament that will be held next month on Kentucky Lake, including the first female in school history.

The team of Emily Huntsman and Jordan Hampton finished in 10th place out of 82 boats with 12-pounds, 6-ounces of fish that were caught on Lake Barkley Saturday during the Region I Tournament. Huntsman is the first Trigg County High School female to qualify for the state tournament.

Chase Oglesby and Ty Meacham overcame a slow start to finish in 15th place with 11-pounds, 4-ounces. Their four fish were caught in the final two hours of the day on their way back to Kuttawa.

Muhlenberg County’s Jackson Kulijof and Lane Tooley won the region title with 20-pounds, 1-ounce.

Since the KHSAA began bass fishing in 2014, this marks the fourth time Trigg County has qualified two teams for the state tournament. This year’s event will be held May 10-11 on Kentucky Lake

Other Trigg teams and their finish were:
Dylan Chambless and Trey Carr – 30th place (8-pounds, 14-ounces)

Avery Harper and Audie Smith – 55th place (5-pounds, 5-ounces)
