Katie Franklin gave up just three singles and struck out seven as Caldwell County shut out Graves County 3-0 on Monday in Princeton.

The Lady Tigers scratched out the first two runs of the contest in the bottom of the fifth inning, then added an insurance tally in the sixth to account for all of the scoring.

Caldwell managed just five singles off Graves hurlers Neely Shoulta and Kristen Wimsatt, but put together just enough offense late in the game to grab its eighth win in its last 10 outings.

The Lady Tigers started the season 2-8 against a brutal schedule but have battled back to even their mark at 10-10.

Caldwell scored its first two runs without the aid of a base hit. With one out in the fifth, A.J. Hollowell reached on an error. Emma Staples was hit by a pitch, then Mashea Glover walked to lead the bases.

Hollowell came home on a wild pitch to make it 1-0. Franklin then hit a sacrifice fly to center to plate Staples and put Caldwell up 2-0.

In the sixth, Madi Choate singled to center with one out. Karlie Rennison walked, then courtesy runner Emily Kirk came around to score when Majah Hollowell reached on an error.

Meanwhile, Graves (11-13) got only one runner as far as second base against Franklin.

Offensively, Caldwell got singles from Staples, Franklin, Allie Felker, Choate and A.J. Hollowell.
